The Rev. Edgar Smith, 81, of 3680 Greenbrier Mossy Dale Road, Winnsboro, entered eternal rest on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, in the Dorn VA Center in Columbia.

Born in Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Olivia McKissick Smith.

He was a former member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II.

Rev. Smith was preceded in death by 10 siblings: Rosa, Lawrence, Jr., Coleen, Paul, Preston, Precious, Iola and Reverends Lewis, Travis and Y.C. Smith.

Surviving are two brothers, Roosevelt Smith of Greensboro, N.C., and Silas Smith of Winston-Salem, N.C.; sisters-in-law, Thelma Smith of Gaffney and Diane Smith of Winston-Salem; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 13, at 2:30 p.m. in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Mills McHam officiating. Interment will be Monday in M.J. Dolly Cooper Veteran's Cemetery in Anderson.

The family is at the home of Thelma Smith, 1001 Clary St.
