Prophetess Karen Lipscomb Tate, 59, of 109 W. O'Neal Street, Gaffney, SC, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023, in Regional Healthcare Hospice, Spartanburg, SC. She was born in Gaffney and was a daughter of William Johnson and the late Nancy Lucille Lipscomb Tate. She was a 1982 graduate of Gaffney High School. She received a BS Degree in Computer Science from Gardner Webb University. Karen was ordained as a minister in 1995. She was a member of New Jerusalem Rebirth and Restoration Ministries, Shelby, NC. She leaves to cherish loving memories: her father, William Johnson, of the home; former husband, Furman Tate, of Gaffney; a brother, Jimmy Lipscomb (Lori), of Gaffney godchildren, Wesley Terrill, of Savannah, Ga; Webster Terrill, of Gaffney, Jasmine Tate, of Winter Haven, FL, and Travis "T.J." Williams, of Greensboro, NC; an uncle, John Foster, of Gaffney; a best friend/sister, Priscilla W. Terrill, of Gaffney; other relatives and many friends. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., in New Mount Zion Baptist Church with The Reverend Bobby Rodgers and Bishop Freddie Marshall. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
