Loranzie "Monk" Surratt, 83, of 120 Sherrill St., Forest City, NC, entered eternal rest on Monday, May 16th, in Hospice House of Rutherford County.

He was born in Cleveland County, NC and was a son of the late Clarence L. Surratt and Mary Alice Hamilton Surratt.

Loranzie was a member of Suck Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are: one brother, Sylvester Dayton Surratt of Chesnee; five sisters, Geannie Moore of Shelby, Debra McIntyre of Forest City, Emma Eden (Eddie) of Baltimore, MD, Ora Burris of Gaffney, and Annie Crawford of the home.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 21st, 3:00 p.m., in Haynes Grove Baptist Church, Cliffside, with Rev. Robert Lipscomb and Rev. Carolyn Smith. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. He will be in state in the church Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

The family is at the home of Crystal Crawford, 342 Wells Drive, Forest City.
