Mr. John Edward Phillips, 75 , 132 McDowell St., Mooresboro, NC, formerly of Gaffney, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021 in Charles George V.A. Medical Center, Asheville, NC. Widower of Patricia Price Phillips, he was born in Gaffney and was a son of the late William and Lonnie Phillips Humphries. John was a member of Suck Creek Baptist Church, a veteran of the United States Army and a retired Supervisor at Burlington Industries. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by: two brothers, Clyde Phillips and Cornell Humphries, and a sister, Macie Mayes. He leaves to cherish loving memories: a son, Nick Phillips (Crystal), of Hickory, NC; two brothers, Spencer Humphries, of Gaffney, SC., and Gaither Humphries, of Boiling Springs, NC; a grandchild, Xavier Phillips; a host of other relatives and friends. Public Viewing – Friday from 12:00 – 6:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 8, 2021, at 3:00 p.m., in the Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Tony Macomson officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
