James Franklin Smith, 71, of 114 Camellia Circle, passed away Wednesday, July 18, in Mary Black Hospital, Spartanburg.

He was born in Gaffney and was a son of the late Joe and Sadie Shippy Smith.

"Frankie" was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a former employee of Hoechst Fibers.

Surviving are: a daughter, Sirena Smith of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a brother of Ronald Smith (Evelyn) of Orange, Conn.; four sisters, Santa Jones (Larry) of Shelby, N.C., Johnette Grant, Andrea and Adele Smith, all of Norwalk, Conn.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be Saturday at noon in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Dr. James Sanders, Jr. officiating. Interment will be Monday at 10 a.m., in M.J. Dolly Cooper Veteran's Cemetery, Anderson.

The family is at the home of Pepras Dalton and Terell Smith, 315 W. Montgomery St.
