James W. Edwards, 77, of St. Stephens, SC, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 10.

Widower of Ida Lloyd Edwards, he was born in Cherokee County, SC and was a son of the late Curtis Sr. and Geneva Dawkins Edwards.

He was a graduate of Granard High School, Claflin University, and South Carolina State University. Mr. Edwards was a retired teacher.

He was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Pineville, SC and a former member of Pleasant Grove C.M.E. Church in Gaffney.

Surviving: a daughter, Vanessa Smalls (Dennis); a son, Kurt Edwards (Nicole); a brother, Robert Edwards (Betty) of Gaffney; two sisters, Lucille Quince and Lillie Ruth Edwards of Gaffney. Sevices will be Saturday, 11 a.m., in The Church of The Redeemer, Pineville, SC
