James William Dawkins 76, of Illinois Circle, Gaffney, SC, entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 5, 2021, in Peachtree Rehabilitation Centre, Gaffney, SC. He was born on March 4, 1945 to Willie L. Dawkins and the late R.B. Dawkins. He was a graduate of Granard High School, Class of 1965, a retired employee of Cherokee County Schools, and an entrepreneur who enjoyed painting and other outdoor work. He attended Concord Baptist Church. James loved his family and leaves them with love and stories that will continue to be told. Proceeding him in death are, his father, R. B. Dawkins and his brother, S.W. Dawkins. Left to cherish fond memories are: his mother, Ms. Willie L. Dawkins of the home; two sisters, Ms. Margaret Dawkins of the home, and Ms. Celia D. Weeks, of Gaffney; two brothers, Charles Dawkins (Flora) and Broadus Dawkins, both of Gaffney; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, July 10, 2021, at 12:00 noon, in New Mount Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Michael A. Bridges officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. He will be in state in the church Saturday at 11:00 a.m. The family visitation hours in the home will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. daily.
