Gladys Ruth Johnson , 86, of 343 McGinnis Road, Cowpens, SC, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023 in Lake Emory Nursing Home, Inman, SC.

Widow of Melia Roger Johnson, Sr., she was born in Iva, SC and was a daughter of the late Trossie and Addie Tucker Hunter.

She was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church.

Gladys was predeceased by siblings, T.C., II, Jacob, Bennie, and Lincoln Hunter and Tecora Oliver.

Surviving are: a son, Melia Roger Johnson, Jr., of Spartanburg, SC; a daughter, Eureka Johnson, of Cowpens; a brother, Columbus Hunter, of Cowpens; sisters, Ceola Posey, of Spartanburg, Ruby Mae Brackett, of Cowpens, and Judy Foster, of Sicklerville, NJ; granddaughter, Chisa J. Putman; great-grandchildren, B. Dmitri Putman, II, Addilyn, and Hunter Grace Putman, all of Rock Hill, SC; brother-in-law, James O. Johnson (Venita), of Upper Marlboro, MD; sisters-in-law, Elaine Hunter, of Gaffney and Barbara McNair, of Pleasantville, MD.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, June 22 ^nd , 1:00 p.m. in Island Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Timothy L. Hunter officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary.
