Mrs. Flora Gist-Evans , age 87, of Cowpens, passed away Saturday, October 16th, in Cherokee Medical Center. Widow of Gerald Evans, Sr., she was born in York, SC and was a daughter of the late Julian and Grace Rutherford Gist. Flora was a member of Dunton United Methodist Church. She was a 1952 graduate of Granard High School. She received a B.S. Degree from Benedict College, Columbia, SC and a Licensed Practical Nursing Degree from Spartanburg Technical College. She was also preceded in death by three siblings, Willie V. Gist, Wilhelmina Gist Tyner, and Audrey Gist Malone. She leaves to cherish loving memories: two sons, Gerald Evans, Jr., (Jelena) of Riverview, FL and Kenneth Evans, Sr., of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Avon Jenkins, of Philadelphia, PA; grandchildren, Alexander Evans, Elizabeth, Lequita, Kenyatta Evans, Kenneth Evans, Jr, and Tiffany Evans; nine great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, October 20th, 2:00 p.m., in Dunton United Methodist Church with The Reverend Calvin Smith officiating.
