Douglas Antonio Dawkins, Sr , 60, of 473 Lockhart Lane, Gaffney, passed away Friday, June 9, 2023, in Veterans Hospital, Richmond, VA.

He was born in Gaffney and was a son of the late Jimmy Phillips and the late Verdell Dawkins Phillips. He was a 1981 graduate of Gaffney High School and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Greater New Faith Baptist Church.

Douglas was preceded in death by a sister, Carla Phillips. He leaves to cherish loving memories: his former wife (31 years), Angelia Sizemore-Dawkins, of Gaffney; three sons, Douglas Dawkins, Jr., Dareon Bridges, Jervis Shippy (Shandreka), all of Gaffney; four daughters, Joya Dawkins, Jocelyn Bonner, Dakeia Bridges Rodgers (Richard), and Dakara Bridges, all of Gaffney; brothers, Mickel Dawkins (Robin), of Boiling Springs, SC, Clinton Phillips, of Charlotte, NC; three sisters, Charlene Brown (Doug), Charlotte Wade (Andre), Vicki Yarborough (Fredrick), all of Gaffney; 17 grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

The Funeral Service and Military Rites will be held Monday, 1:00 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with The Rev. Tony Makupson officiating.
