Charles "Sunny" Hame s, 91, of 432 Little Hope Road, Gaffney, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2023, in his home. He was born in Cherokee County and was a son of the late King Hames, Sr. and Alice Hambright Hames. After graduating from the public schools in Gaffney, SC, he enlisted in the US ARMY. He was a retired Security Guard for Duke Power. Sunny was a member of Galilee Baptist Church where he was named the "Father of The Church."

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Calvin Hames, Sr; a grandchild, Jason Brewton; siblings, King D. Hames, Jr., Nettie Ratchford, Florence Berel, Ruth Plummer, Delois Graham, and Elizabeth Dawkins.

He leaves to cherish loving memories: two sons, Charles Hames, Jr, of San Jose, CA and Charles Bernard Hames (Cynthia), of Blacksburg, SC; two daughters, Helen Gloria Hames, of Gaffney, SC and Patricia Ann Bradley, of Blacksburg, SC; a sister, Margaret Hicks, of Gaffney, SC, 14 grandchildren, a host of great and great-great grandchildren, other relatives, and friends. A Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2023, 1:00 p.m., in Galilee Baptist Church with Rev. Lewis Duckett officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family is at the home of Charles and Cynthia Hames, 412 Little Hope Rd., Blacksburg, SC.
