Ms. Annie Pearl Dowdle (Penny) Smith, 79 , of 602 W. Buford St., passed away Sunday, January 17th, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Widowed to Lawrence Smith, she was born in Cherokee County, South Carolina, October, 1, 1941 to Thomas Glenn Dowdle and Hallean Odessa Smith Dowdle. Penny was a member at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church then later attended New Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was employed as a Cook for Normans Truck Stop. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, Andre Smith; two brothers, Horace Wilkins and Carl Dowdle; three sisters, Annette Byers, Lelia Jefferies, and Teresa Dowdle. She leaves to cherish loving memories: a son, Ricky Brannon, of Pelzer, SC; three godsons, Michael Watkins and James McDowell both of the home, Quan Allen, of Gaffney; two goddaughters, Ebony Shae Littlejohn and Deanna Allen, both of Gaffney; three sisters; Wanda Littlejohn, of Chesnee, Corneal Scott, of Fountain Inn, and Sandra Norris (Napoleon), of Gaffney; a grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Public Viewing will be Friday from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m.

The Funeral Service will be Saturday, 12:00 noon in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel. The family is at 602 W. Buford St.
