Alice Lee Petty Thompson, 90, of Gaffney, passed away Friday, February 19, 2019, in the Peachtree Centre. She was born in Cherokee County, SC on August 7, 1930 to Fred and Daisy Hopper Petty. She was the widow of Charlie Thompson, a member of Suck Creek Baptist Church, and a retiree of Cone Mills. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, R.J. Thompson; a daughter, Phyllis Thompson; a brother, Archie Petty. She leaves to cherish loving memories: two sons, Bernard Thompson (Dorothy), of Cliffside, NC and Horace Thompson (Annie) of Kingstown, NC; four sisters, Minnie Smith (Rev. Arthur J.), of Caroleen, NC, Nellie Hollis (Victor), of Gaffney, SC, Gracie Smith, of Gaffney, and Lula Lee (Ernest), of Shelby; NC; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. The Funeral Service will be Thursday, 1:00 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Arthur J. Smith officiating. Interment will be in Gaffney Memorial Park.
